Wye Oak BLS Office Building

University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland

Architect: Melville Thomas Architects
Completed: 2014

This two-story 12,800 sf LEED Silver office building consolidated Building Landscape Services (BLS) into one building equipped with offices, meeting rooms, locker rooms, restrooms, chemical storage and support space.  Existing facilities were demolished during project development and  new HVAC VAV terminal units with electric re-heat, lighting and power distribution, an emergency generator, exterior lighting, interior lighting with dimmers and timers, plumbing systems, and fire life safety systems were designed.  The automatic wet sprinkler system was designed for full building coverage and an addressable fire alarm system, monitored by the University’s radio system.  The building was the first on campus to receive both LEED and Green Globes recognition. WFT provided MEP/FP design, life cycle cost analysis, construction administration and commissioning services for the design build with a GMP project.
