This 84,388 gsf world class facility supports educational research and growth in the development of unmanned and robotic systems. Located in the tri-county area of Southern Maryland in proximity to NAVAIR-NAWCAD, the University of Maryland UAS Test Site, and Webster field, the Southern Maryland Autonomous Research & Technology (SMART) Building is positioned to serve as a catalyst for industry, government and academia collaboration, innovation and entrepreneurship. The building encompasses flexible general purpose classrooms, engineering and research laboratories, collaboration and conference spaces, faculty offices, and support spaces.  The project scope included extensive site, utility, and infrastructure modifications to serve the facility including roads, parking, walkways, utilities, and storm water management. WFT provided plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, and life safety code design and construction administration services.
