This exciting public private partnership is located in the heart of West Philadelphia’s growing science and technology sector.  The new facility will house two public schools in one building — Powel Elementary for grades K through 4, and the Science Leadership Academy Middle School (SLAMS) for grades 5-8. The 86,500 sf building will be equipped with 27 classrooms — Powel will utilize 15, and SLAMS will use 12, with a total capacity of 885 students. Shared amenities include a gymnasium, cafeteria/ auditorium, art, music and drama rooms, a library, administrative services offices, wellness and counseling facilities, outdoor activity areas, a full-service kitchen with a food servery, trash and recycling room, storage room, utility rooms, and maintenance rooms.
