MIEMSS Communications Center Redesign

Baltimore, Maryland

Completed: 2015

This design build project for comprehensive redesign and upgrade of a Communications Center was phased in order for the critical facility to remain operational throughout the project. Design included a data center, operations area, break room, kitchen, offices, and bathrooms.  Services included initial surveys of existing MEP systems, demolition and temporary relocation of the entire  operations area, installation of modern communication systems and technology, re-zoning of new dedicated redundant RTU’s for the offices, call center and equipment rooms, new HVAC systems, revised dispatch center lighting plans, transition and final power, a radio-grade ground system, new plumbing for bathrooms, kitchen equipment and exhaust, and pre-action sprinkler and wet sprinkler protection systems. Provisions were designed in case of an environmental attack so this vital operation could continue without interruption.  Electrical support also included three split systems to be connected to the primary generator and two split systems connected to the secondary generator. Utilities meet current N+1 requirements.
