Architect of the Capitol (AOC) A/E IDIQ Contract

Washington, DC

Plumbing and electrical engineering services under an AOC on-call IDIQ contract include repairs and renovations to federal buildings in Washington, DC, on a design team led by Quinn Evans Architects:

Library of Congress, Thomas Jefferson Building Roof Repairs

Roof repairs on the 600,000 GSF Thomas Jefferson Building (TJB), built in 1897, were necessary due to leakage which had resulted in significant water intrusion issues.  The copper roof had been replaced in 1998.  Our scope included survey and design for replacement of 96 roof drains and installation of a new certified master label lightning protection system.

Library of Congress, James Madison Memorial Building Partial Roof Replacement

Replacement of portions of the roof included an upper area located over the sixth floor, seventh floor, and over a louvered monitor.  Our scope included design for a photovoltaic system to be installed concurrently with new roofing and suited to the architectural design of the JMMB and best practices for inspection and repair access to the new roofing.  The project required partial removal of lightning protection to accommodate the work while providing temporary protection in work areas and maintaining the balance of the system as operational.  A complete and recertified master label lightning system was designed for installation at project completion.

U.S. Supreme Court Cafeteria Renovations

Plumbing modifications were designed in the renovation and modernization of the ground floor kitchen and server area serving the Supreme Court’s cafeteria.

Dirksen Senate Office Building Roof Replacement

Electrical and plumbing services were provided for replacement of the original 1958 flat roof on the building due to degradation and leakage. Our services included performing an existing conditions evaluation, providing options with costing, and design documents for associated plumbing systems and recertified master label lightning protection system.

Food Services Build-Outs

Branded food service fit-outs were planned for the U.S. House Of Representatives Rayburn and Longworth office buildings.  Our services included plumbing system planning and design for a Jamba Juice in the Longworth Building, and a Steak n Shake and a &Pizza in the Rayburn Building.  Plumbing systems associated with the renovation of a 5,000 sf storage area in the Rayburn Building were also included in design services.
