This new 120,000 sf academic facility features an open design approach allowing spaces to align with an outside plaza and circulation throughout the building. Encompassing teaching labs, flexible classrooms, assembly and conference meeting spaces, a lecture hall, student resource center, small Animal Research Center, and simulated patient treatment labs for interdisciplinary training of health disciplines including Kinesiology, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, and Rehabilitation Services, the research facilities will advance UMES as a newly classified Carnegie Doctoral University and increase the capacity to collaborate with the pharmaceutical industry and conduct research. Outdoor seating areas welcome informal student interaction.  The new facility allows for growth of programs and enrollments and will help meet health care needs of the region. WFT provided plumbing and fire protection life safety design and construction administration services resulting in LEED Silver certification.
