Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)

Rockville, Maryland

Over the last seven years WFT Engineering has provided ongoing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design services for the NRC. Initially our firm provided architectural and engineering project management, design and construction administration for a critical project to convert 7,500 sf of office space into a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) area, managed by SPAWAR, Corp of Engineers. Another project involved the build-out of a 2,500 sf hearing room and support space. One project involved conversion of open work spaces to closed offices and vice versa located on several floors. Subsequent minor electrical and mechanical design services were provided for the addition of suite demising partitions. WFT Engineering is currently providing MEP/FP design services for renovations and restacking of a major portion of the headquarters complex. Initial restacking projects include 120,000 sf of office space; initial renovation projects include the Chairman’s suite, Commissioners’ suites and hearing rooms, and the employee fitness center.
